Harriet Tubman Day Speech as Chair of the City of St. Catharines Anti-Racism Advisory Committee

Harriet Tubman is one of the most famous residents of our City of St. Catharines, but her history is not just the past but an on-going history. We have to make sure we rise up to the challenge and don't leave her work behind as merely a legacy. Let's make St. Catharines a city everyone looks to again as a fortress of equality. There are initiatives from the Anti-Racism Advisory Committee right here coming to Council as reports from staff including by-laws banning hate signs and street harassment, which are only a small start to the ongoing role the City government is part of the living history in working for anti-racism.
